Hazel Oyeze Onou, known professionally as Whitemoney, was born on June 6, 1991, in Kano, Nigeria, and hails from Enugu State in southern Nigeria. Despite his Igbo heritage, Whitemoney's formative years were spent in Kaduna, Nigeria. His early career was marked by diverse entrepreneurial ventures in Lagos where he pursued various occupations including commercial photography and telecommunication tower maintenance. He also made strides in the business world through importing and selling shoes. Reality TV Stardom Whitemoney's popularity soared when he joined the sixth season of Big Brother Naija on July 24, 2021. His charisma and talent won the hearts of many, culminating in his victory on October 3, 2021, with 47% of the final votes, earning him the ₦90 million grand prize. In 2023, he returned to the Big Brother Naija All-Stars season. Music Career Whitemoney embarked on his musical journey in 2018, producing tracks such as "Rosemary" and "Your Life." On December 3, 2021, he released the popular "Selense," produced by the legendary Masterkraft, featuring award-winning guitarist Fioke, and mixed and mastered by Selebobo. The song achieved significant success across various streaming platforms and airwaves. Following its success, Whitemoney collaborated with Zimbabwean artist Tamy Moyo to release "Selense Remix" on February 25, 2022, with its official music video released on March 6, 2022. The remix further solidified Whitemoney's presence in the music industry. Whitemoney has pioneered his genre, Kum Kum Music (Kool United Melody), a fusion of various music styles. His collaborations with artists like Zoro on "Nà We-We," Umu Obiligbo on "Oyoyo," ft Duncan Mighty, and Ghana's Bisa Kdei have showcased his versatility. He is currently in the studio working on his much-anticipated EP, featuring a blend of genres and collaborations with Nigerian and international artists. The EP promises to be a dynamic addition to his growing discography.
